The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force in May 2018 stipulates that any person whose image is recorded on a video surveillance system, has a right to be supplied with a copy of their own personal data from any recorded video. However, the identity of other individuals who feature in the footage needs to be protected.
